Part of the blown-in day
On a dry West Palm attic that just needs depth, the seal and the blown-in insulation are the same visit. The planning range on the cost page assumes that normal seal. It does not assume a rebuilt hatch.
When sealing is the whole job
Some houses, especially newer ones west of the turnpike, already have the inches and still leak at the cans and the hatch. We seal those and leave the dry fill alone. If the fill is wet, insulation removal comes first. Sealant on top of a soaked batt does nothing.
Air sealing questions
Do you air seal before blowing insulation in West Palm Beach?
Yes. Every blown-in job starts with the leaks: can lights, top plates, chases, bath fans, and the hatch. Insulation over an open hole just hides it. The usual air seal is included in a normal blown-in day, not added as a surprise line.
Can you air seal an attic that already has enough insulation?
Yes, when the depth is already near R-38 but the ceiling still leaks. That is a seal-only visit. If the fill is also thin, we seal and then blow. Photos of the hatch tell us which one it is.
Will air sealing alone cut the West Palm electric bill?
It stops the air conditioner from cooling the attic through open cans and the hatch. We do not promise a dollar amount. On a thin attic, sealing without adding depth to R-38 leaves the lid weak.
Is air sealing the same price as blown-in?
A normal seal is part of the blown-in planning range. A seal-only visit, a new hatch, or baffles at a closed soffit are not. The attic planner does not price those extras.
